The North Ossetian parliament passed a bill in the second and final reading today to replace a direct vote for president with a parliamentary vote, ITAR-TASS reports.

52 MPs voted for the bill, six against, three abstained. Thus, North Ossetia has become the third Russian region, after Dagestan and Ingushetia, to have president elected by the parliament. North Ossetian President Taymuraz Mamsurov’s terms of presidency expire in May 2015.
