Leading higher education centers of Stavropol Territory unite into federal university

The North Caucasian Federal University will not be established from scratch, it will be reorganized from the leading higher education centers of the Stavropol Territory, the deputy chairman of the government of the region Vasiliy Balditsyn said.

He said that the initiative was agreed on with the governor of the region, the authorized presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and the Russian minister of education and science. The state technical university was considered the basis for the federal university.

The university will train specialists for the grass-roots economy and allow specialists in various spheres to meet.

Balditsyn said that there is a proposal to use the higher education centers of Pyatigorsk. The university will be headed by one person. The decision to establish the university from already existing higher education centers is due to the lack of students.

He added that the working group for establishing the university consists of the head of the region and the head of the Siberian Federal University and will consider the experience of the Southern and Siberian Federal Districts. The government of Russia will be presented with the concept of the university in November, RIA Novosti reports.
