Pro-EU protests continue in Ukraine
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaPro-EU protests continue in Ukraine as the authorities refuse to sign the associate membership agreement with the European Union. The protesters demand the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych and the government headed by Mykola Azarov.
The leader of the opposition Fatherland party, Arseny Yatsenyuk, has called for further protests and urged other regions to follow Kyiv's example.
Accoding to the chief editor of Vestnik Kavkaza, Alexey Vlasov, in general the atmosphere in Kyiv is quite calm and the events mainly unfold on TV. The media outlets owned by Poroshenko are trying to increase the tensions, while the opposition itself is rather inactive and the opposition leaders lack Yushchenko's and Tymoshenko's charisma.
