Kazakhstan announces medal plan for Sochi Olympics

Kazakh Minister for Physical Education and Sports Tastanbek Yesentayev has described the medal plan for the Sochi Olympic Games at the Kazakh government today, ITAR-TASS reports.He said he wanted the country's athletes to improve their achievements at the Games in Vancouver and get at least two medals, taking the 20-23rd position among all teams.Yesentayev noted that Kazakhstan may win in ski races, biathlon, freestyle mogul skiing, speed skating, figure skating and snowboarding. Kazakhstan has big hopes in figure skater Denis Ten and speed skater Denis Kuzin. The country plans to be among top 10 in snowboarding and short-track.Yesentayev added that formation of the Olympic team will be concluded in January. It consists of 33 athletes specialized in 7 types of sports. He said that the plan was to get over 40 licenses for 10 types of sports.The Kazakh team came 25th at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.
