Expert says SOCAR official's words were misinterpreted

This week media reported that, according to the Vice-President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Davud Mamedov, the company will stop exporting crude oil and enhance oil processing within the territory of Azerbaijan.

However, as Azerbaijani oil expert Ilkham Shaban explained to Vestnik Kavkaza later, the remarks were devoted only to exporting Azerbaijani crude via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.

According to the expert, the whole boom was based on a simple misinterpretation of the SOCAR official's remarks.
