Over 70% of Iranians cannot watch satellite channels
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIranian Minister for Culture Ali Jannati said that over 70% of the population could not watch satellite channels. The minister emphasized that the ban on satellite channels was pointless because at least 2000 of such channels were watchable on mobile machines, Iran.ru reports.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticized the ban and called it a relic of the past. The presidential administration plans to give Iranians free access to information sources.
Iran still blocks certain TV channels, Internet websites, including social networks. Rouhani and some ministers have already proposed lifting the ban.
