Vitaly Naumkin on the Syrian crisis

 Vitaly Naumkin, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RAS, spoke about the current situation in Syria. 2013 was marked by two trends in the region – a military and a diplomatic approach to the settlement of problem. Russia prevented military intervention in Syria. An important breakthrough was achieved on Iran. These successes hold out a hope of rejection of threats and economic sanction in favor of diplomacy and regional stability.
