Russian Public Chamber concerned about xenophobia

The authors of the report say that opposition politicians and journalists were often targeted by the law. The ethnic map is often used by some figures interested in escalation of extremist crimes.According to the Levada Center pollster, the highest wave of xenophobia was registered in 2013 and affected 70-80% of the population. The peak of xenophobic attitude was registered in October, after the elections of the mayor and the interethnic clash in the Moscow suburb of Biryulyovo. Moscow has the highest level of xenophobia due to having the highest density of migrants, the authors of the report say.
