Azerbaijan starts conscription

Azerbaijan today started another conscription to active military service.

According to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, the document provides conscription from January 1 to 30, 2014, for active military service of Azerbaijani citizens who were born in 1996 and reached at the time of conscription age of 18, as well as persons under 35 years born in 1979-1995 not having the right to deferment from military service in the Armed Forces of the Republic and other armed units provided by the legislation .

In accordance with the order under Article 38.1.1 of the law of the Azerbaijan Republic "On Military Duty and Military Service", from January 1 to 30, 2014, the military personnel on active duty are dismissed after the period of military service.

The decree on conscription for military service and on military discharge in the Azerbaijan Republic from January 1 to 30, 2014 was signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 14.
