Volgograd pays last respects to the policeman who stopped the suicide bomber

Today in Volgograd at the Dimitrovskoye cemetery the funeral took place of Dmitry Makovkin, the Interior Ministry official who stopped a suicide bomber at the entrance to the railway station building on Sunday.

Together with Makovkin’s family and hundreds of residents, heads of security agencies, representatives of the regional government and the head of the region came to say farewell to a hero. Transport Police Sergeant Makovkin was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage and buried with full military honours.
