US and Russia to enhance cooperation in struggle against terrorism

US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel recently telephoned his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu and offered mutual cooperation in the struggle against terrorism, especially during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

"Secretary Hagel assured Minister Shoigu that the United States stands ready to provide security assistance to Russia for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, if requested," Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby is quoted as saying by Russia Today.

"The leaders discussed the need to remain vigilant against these threats and considered additional opportunities to deepen our nations’ counter-terrorism cooperation,” the US official added.
