Chechnya and Ingushetia conclude border dispute

Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov said at the Sheikh Batal-Haji Belkhoroyev Mosque in Achkhoy Martan on Sunday that the border with Ingushetia will not undergo any changes. Alan Kasayev, Head of the Subdepartment for Top Journalism Mastery at the MSLU, said that borders of the North Caucasus had been set in the 1920-1950s and changing them could cause major repercussions and casualties.

Readiness to keep the borders the way they were will contribute to stability in the region, according to Kasayev. Kadyrov understood the negative effects of any attempt to change the border, a precedent could spread to other regions. The expert reminded that Chechen and Ingush citizens had returned to their homeland after exile in 1957. The border of the Chechen-Ingush SSR was changed.
