UN chief and Iranian deputy foreign minister discuss Syria

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed a settlement of the Syrian conflict at the second international conference of donor states in the Kuwait City yesterday, ITAR-TASS reports.The sides discussed the humanitarian situation, as well as regional political initiatives to encourage talks between the Syrian opposition and the government. Both officials agreed that a military solution was unacceptable.Ban said many times that Iran’s participation in the Geneva-2 Conference will contribute to the peace process.The UN head welcomed the start of realization of the joint action plan on January 20 to reduce the Iranian nuclear program, according to Iran’s agreement with six international mediators.
