On January 20 , immediately after the IAEA confirms the fulfillment of the agreements reached in Geneva in November by the Iranian side, the EU would be willing to withdraw some of the economic sanctions against Iran.

The EU, according to Agence France Presse, will finalize the legal instrument that provides for the termination of certain sanctions, and "apply it on the same day," when it receives a "green light" from the IAEA. This will happen as expected, on the morning of January 20.

Recall that at a meeting on 24 November 2013, Iran and the six  international mediators ( Russia , USA, UK , France, China and Germany) agreed on measures to significantly scale back Iran's nuclear program in anticipation of the full agreement. Later, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Arakchi, and the Deputy Foreign Minister of the European Union, Helga Schmidt, reached an agreement on the main issues of implementing the agreements. They are expected to come into force on January 20. On January 18, the IAEA delegation will visit Iran to inspect the nuclear facilities there.
