44th World Economic Forum opens in Davos
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe 44th World Economic Forum opened in Davos yesterday. Klaus Schwab, founder of the Forum, said that the talks will focus on problems of unemployment, socio-economic development.
Over 2,500 political and business leaders of the world are attending the Forum. They include US Secretary of State John Kerry, Presidents Hassan Rouhani (Iran), Shimon Peres, (Israel), Prime Ministers Nikolai Azarov (Ukraine), David Cameron (UK), Shinzo Abe (Japan), Enrico Letta (Italy), Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel). Russia will be represented by Vice Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Minister for Economic Development Alexey Ulyukayev, Heads of Sberbank and VTB German Gref and Andrey Kostin.
Azerbaijan will be represented by President Ilham Aliyev, Georgia by Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili, Minister for Economy Georgy Kvirikashvili, Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze, directors of the Georgian Co-Investment Fund, National Investment Agency and the Georgian Railway. Armenian politicians and businessmen are not attending the Forum.German Gref and Russian Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak presented the Winter Olympic Games of Sochi on Tuesday under the orchestra music of conductor Valery Gergiyev.
Azerbaijani Minister for Communications Ali Abbasov will chair the session on broadband Internet and sustainable development on January 24. It will be attended by Ruanda President Paul Kagame, European Commissioner for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes, Minister for Communication and Information Technology of Qatar Hessa Sultan al-Jaber, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Gurry and UN officials.
