Ukraine marks Day of Communalism and Freedom

Ukraine is marking the Day of Communalism and Freedom. On January 22, 1919, the Ukrainian People’s Republic merged with the West Ukrainian People’s Republic, RIA Novosti reports.

Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych expressed confidence that the country will go through the political and economic challenges and become stronger.

Radical opposition had a clash with the police at the Kiev center on January 19. Molotov cocktails were thrown at the police. Dozens of law enforcers were hospitalized.
