500 days left until first European Games in Baku

500 days are left before the start of first European Games in Baku. Organizers of Baku-2015 have started sending information on sports qualification to 49 National Olympic Committees.

At least 7 types of sports will be the qualification platform for the 2016 Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro: cycling, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, beach volleyball. The Baku Games will have 18 types of sports with 5400 athletes performing.

Patrick Hickey, President of the European Olympic Committee, congratulated everyone who made a contribution to the Baku-2015 Games. Azad Ragimov, Azerbaijani Minister for Youth and Sports and Executive Director of the Baku-2015 Operational Committee, said that the facilities constructed for the Games will benefit the republic for decades. He noted construction of a new airport and 13 transportation reconstructions for optimization of the metro, bus systems.
