Circassian delegation to take part in Olympic opening

Russian Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak invited overseas Circassian communities to take part in the opening of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games of Sochi at the Fisht Stadium on February 7 together with the Adyghes.

Circassian communities of Jordan, Syria, UAE, Israel, Palestine, Turkey, Germany and other countries will visit the Adyghe House at the Olympic Park the day before the start of the Games. Construction of the Adyghe House was initiated by the administration of the Krasnodar Territory and the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee.

The Circassian delegation will stay in Sochi until February 10.

The invitation was given to Adyghes in October 2013. The Kabardino-Balkarian State University held a meeting where the Association of Foreign Graduates and Friends of the KBSU was founded by graduates of the University from Jordan, Syria, Turkey, UAE, Palestine, Israel, Germany, US, Canada. Most of them are part of the Circassian community.

Back then, the Association initiated a visit of over 50 people to the Krasnodar Territory. Governor Alexander Tkachyov’s executives organized a warm welcome for them. The delegation visited Adyghe villages, culture centers, historic places, opening of the Shapsugiya Culture Center of Black Sea Shapsugs, Krasnaya Polyana, Rosa Khutor, Imereti Valley.Kozak congratulated the delegation on the return to their homeland. He invited foreign Adyghes to visit the Olympic Games with Russians and guests from all parts of the world.
