Tbilisi-Rustavi road construction falls behind schedule

Construction of the Tbilisi-Rustavi road was to start last spring but no works have started yet, Kommersant reports.The road was split into three sections. The second and the third sections have been designed and need approval of the Asian Development Bank in order to receive financing.It is unclear when Sinohydro Limited, the Chinese company that won tenders for construction of the road sections, will start work. The construction will cost 88.7 million lari (about $50 million). The road will reduce time needed to travel from Tbilisi to Rustavi from 20-30 minutes to 8 minutes.
