Dagestani president describes Azerbaijan
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaDagestani President Ramazan Abdulatipov described his visit to Azerbaijan at a press conference yesterday/ Abdulatipov reminded that Azerbaijan was situated next to Dagestan. In his words, the two republics were brothers, had common history and had not had many economic and cultural projects until recently.
The Dagestani leader said that he had been welcomed by the population and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The Azerbaijani president approved many proposals for cooperation of Dagestan, including collaboration in education and science.
Abdulatipov clarified that one of his ideas was to rename the Derbent Street after Heydar Aliyev. He noted that Heydar Aliyev had been one of his political tutors and a close friend.
According to the Dagestani leader, a governmental and a parliamentary delegations will visit Azerbaijan to discuss forms of cooperation. He expressed hope that it would be economic and cultural collaboration.
Concluding the talks, Abdulatipov wished success to participants of the Sochi Olympic Games and hopes that no incidents would happen. He added that, with the help of the FSB, the terrorist threat in Dagestan was minimized.
