Baku to host 7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival on May 12-19

Baku will host the 7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival on May 12-19 instead of late December, in order to expand its concert opportunities, as stated by Olga Rostropovich, Art Director and President of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.

The festival in Baku was the first festival of Rostropovich after his resignation. It had been initiated by Mehriban Aliyev, First Lady of Azerbaijan, in 2007, reminded Olga Rostropovich. Organizing the festival in May will allow open stages to be used.

Olga Rostropovich said that the 7th festival will be highlighted by conductor Yuri Temirkanov, an orchestra from Monte Carlo, Nargiz Pashayeva’s puppet theater, Cola brothers from Italy who had often been invited to the opera theater of Galina Pavlovna in Moscow.
