Nazarbayev proposes to rename Kazakhstan

The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to consider the possibility of changing the name of Kazakhstan to  "Kazak eli".

" In the name of our country there is this ending "-stan", as in the other Central Asian states. Meanwhile, foreigners are showing interest in Mongolia , with a population of only two million people because its title is missing the ending "-stan". Perhaps we need to consider the issue of changing the name of our country to " Kazak eli " , but before we should discuss this with the people ", said Nazarbayev, quoted by "Interfax ".
