Georgian president visits Azerbaijan

Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili is on a two-day visit to Azerbaijan today to meet President Ilham Aliyev, ITAR-TASS reports.The presidents will have a closed-door meeting and then an expanded one. They will discuss efforts to speed up construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway which will be launched in 2015, the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey format of cooperation, settlement of conflicts in the South Caucasus.Margvelashvili will make his first visit to Azerbaijan as the Georgian President.The sides are not expected to sign any documents after negotiations.Margvelashvili will meet Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Speaker of Parliament Oktay Asadov. He will meet officials of the Georgian community living in the Gakhsky District.The Georgian president was officially planning to visit Baku in late December 2013 but the visit was postponed due to technical problems.
