Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili said after a meeting with General Knud Bartels, Chief of the NATO Military Committee, yesterday that such high-ranking visit was an act of unprecedented support of the Alliance in Georgia, Trend reports.

He emphasized that the talks focused on rapprochement of Georgia and the NATO. He added that Georgia continued assistance in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan and will give territory to help NATO forces withdraw from Afghanistan.

Margvelashvili thanked Bartels for letting Georgia join the EU rapid reaction force and expressed hope that the efforts will be given approval at the NATO summit in the UK.
