Trilateral Russia-US-UN meeting started in Geneva

A trilateral meeting between Russia, the U.S. and the UN on a Syrian

settlement has started in Geneva involving UN and Arab League

envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister

Gennady Gatilov and U.S. Undersecretary of State

Wendy Sherman.

The diplomats arrived at the Palais des Nations. This morning's session of

negotiations betweeen the Syrian delegations was cancelled.

Russian diplomats also met today with a delegation of the Syrian

opposition. There were planned consultations between Gennady Gatilov

and the head of the National Coalition of Syria, Ahmed Jarba, but

the format of the meeting was changed since Jarba did not

come to Geneva.
