Expert doesn't believe in success of 'anti-terrorist operation' in Ukraine
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaUkraine's security services announced on Wednesday that they were launching a massive 'anti-terrorist operation' in the country. The statement was issued amid increasing tensions in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
Ukrainian expert Sergey Slobodchuk doesn't believe that the operation will be successful. The government forces seem unable to control even Independance Square in downtown Kyiv. It's hard to believe that in such circumstances they will manage to stabilize the situation, he says.
According to the expert, the escalation of the conflict is dangerous for both the authorities and the opposition, and neither side should provoke any further violence.
