The editor of the magazine "Problems of National Strategy", Ajdar Kurtov, said that Afghanistan could be facing the threat of internal destabilization again. On February 15, Russia will mark the 25th anniversary of the end of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. Now the situation is repeated, only this time the U.S. and their European allies are leaving Afghan land. By the end of 2014 the NATO countries plan to withdraw their combat troops from the region. Russia and India, which have traditionally played an important role in strengthening regional cooperation and security, can't be indifferent about how the situation will develop in this country. Of particular concern is the likelihood of strengthening the position of the "Taliban" movement and the terrorist organization "al-Qaeda", as well as the expansion of terrorist activity in neighboring countries.
