Viktor Yanukovych to step into Yulia Tymoshenko's shoes?

President of the Center for Political Education and Counselling, political scientist Oleg Kudinov, commented on the current situation in Ukraine, and spoke about whether Viktor Yanukovych will be able to stay in power. The protests in Ukraine, that started out peacefully at the end of November 2013 in response to the suspension of the signing of an association agreement with the EU, have long grown into a violent confrontation involving extremists on the side of the opposition, leading their own political game. The opposition doesn't cease to demand ever more concessions from the government, but every time it says it's not enough, thereby encouraging the protesters to radicalize, pandering to anarchy and disorder. Europe and the U.S., while in words urging Ukrainians to dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the conflict, in fact plunge the country into more chaos, which they would never have allowed in their countries and would prevent it with everything but those "democratic" methods, which they want Ukraine to use.
