Turkey celebrates Victory Day

The president of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, congratulated citizens on the holiday. The president stated that "the victory was a great moment, achieved through solidarity and unity"
"Thanks to the great victory, our decision to live and develop independently was writen into the pages of history. We declared to the whole world that Anatolia is the motherland of all Turks," announced Gul.

The Head of the General Staff, General Ishik Koshaner, said that this victory was a great start on the march of Turkey towards modern civilisation and that nothing can stop them on this path, due to the unitary, ethnic and secular organisation of their state.
Victory Day is celebrated after the victory in Dumlupyinar, which saw the end of the struggle for independence against Greece.
