North Caucasus Railway invests 4.5 billion dollars in the Tuapse-Adler line

The North Caucasus Railway has invested 4.5 billion dollars on improving the Tuapse-Adler line in the last 7 months.
It is one of the Olympic projects being realized on the railroad. During the project, a two-way railroad will be organized in Matsesta-Hosta, Sochi-Matsesta, Yakornaya Shel-Loo, Dagomis-Sochi and Lazarevskaya-Chemitokvadzhe.
On the Shepsy-Vodopadni section a net is being installed to prevent rockfalls.
Documentation of the project of a two-way railroad on the Hosta-Adler and Tuapse-Shepsi sections has been completed. During the Olympics 127 trains will function on this sector of the railroad.
According to the North Caucasus Railway, realization of these projects will improve transport in 2014.
In 2009, NCR transported 64 million tons and 47.4 million passengers. During the first 7 months of 2010, 37.9 million tons and 22.4 million passengers were transported. Investment in the first part of 2010 amounts to 49 billion dollars.
