Dagestan needs textbook on poet Gamzatov

Dagestani Leader Ramazan Abdulatipov proposed composition of a textbook about poet Rasul Gamzatov for school classes, ITAR-TASS reports.

Abdulatipov said that he had started writing such textbook in Moscow but the work had not been completed due to his business. The official said that Gamzatov’s poetry about Dagestan, his homeland, parents, treatment of women and war were that basic things everyone in Dagestan should know about.

The same, according to the Dagestani leader, can be said about such national poets as Suleyman Stalsky, Irchi Kazak, Omarla Batyray, Khizgil Avshalumov and others.

2014 was declared the Rasul Gamzatov Year.
