Barrier-free systems in Sochi become example Russia-wide

The number of handicapped people engaged in sports in Russia tripled in 2006-2011. Over 200 Russian cities have used the Sochi barrier-free model to make the life of handicapped people more comfortable, Yuga.ru reports.

Sochi is the first city to implement the program to make the city comfortable regardless of people’s abilities. All means of transportation, roads, sports and social facilities were made suitable for handicapped people.

The barrier-free zone of Sochi has 14,700 such facilities.
