Georgia to hold public talks on state projects and human rights
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Office of the Georgian National Protector and the National Library of the Georgian parliament will hold public debates on state-value projects and their impact on human rights today, Trend reports.
Reports will be presented by Georgian Deputy Energy Ministers Ilya Eloshvili and Irakly Khmaladze, head of the legal service of the Georgian Ministry for Environment Maya Bitadze, an official of the Office of the National Protector Maya Liparteliani and head of the Green Alternative NGO Manana Kolchadze. Georgian Ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili will be the moderator of the talks.
Some NGOs and residents of Khaishi, a village that would be submerged after dam construction, protest against the hydro project. The meeting is held with the assistance of the EU.
Debates on the most topical issues are held on the last Friday of every month.
