US troops leave Kyrgyzstan’s Manas Air Base

The US has started moving its equipment from the Manas Air Base. The last flight refueling aircraft left the base near Bishkek Airport a few days ago, according to John Millard, commander of the base, ITAR-TASS reports.The Transit Center, its infrastructure and some of its real estate will be handed over to the Kyrgyz government. All personnel will be moved by July 10.Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said in late June 2013 that he denounced the agreement on leasing the Manas Air Base to the US. Bishkek agreed to form a joint Russian military base in Bishkek.
