US trying to pursue Russia to improve ties with Ukraine

On Saturday Western powers enhanced their efforts to pursue the Kremlin to change its official line on the new Ukrainian government. Despite the Western countries still warning Russia about the possible consequences of Russia's policy towards Ukraine, they seem to be pursuing Russia to start talks with Ukraine, rather than put pressure on it.

The turning point of this process was President Obama's phone conversation, during which he called for a compromise solution based on the interests of both Russia and Ukraine.

President Putin for his part underlined that the crisis in Russian-Ukrainian relations should not affect US-Russian ties.
