River Kuban stream changed in Karachay-Cherkessia

RusHydro has changed the stream of River Kuban for construction of the Zelenchukskaya Dam in Karachay-Cherkessia, according to Rahmetulla Alzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of RusHydro, Interfax reports.

It will be the only mixed hydro and pump-storage plant in the country. The dam should be launched in Q4 2014. The construction costs over 9.2 billion rubles, said Grigor Saratikyan, Director of the RusHydro office in Karachay-Cherkessia. It will produce about 47% of electricity consumed by the republic.
