Two people killed in Istanbul protests

At least two people were killed and over 70 detained in a crackdown of protests by the Istanbul police, RIA Novosti reports.

The protests erupted on Tuesday when 15-year-old Berkin Elvan, an activist who had been injured by a police grenade at the Gezi Park and had stayed in coma for 268 days, was reported dead.
