500 rebels killed in Syria

Some 500 rebels were killed on Wednesday in ongoing clashes between the Syrian army and hardline armed militant groups in Syria's northwestern province of Latakia, world media report.

Most of the killed rebels were Saudis and Chechens, Xinhua cites the al-Watan newspaper as saying.
