Erdoğan may become Turkey's next president, Bülent Arınç says

The results of the recent municipal elections have shown that Prime Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has a good chance of being elected as Turkey's next president, if he takes part in the race, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç believes.

In such a case, incumbent President Abdullah Gül is likely to support Erdoğan's candidacy, the official says.

The presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Turkey on August 10, 2014.
