Number of terrorist crimes halved in Russia

Alexander Bortnikov, head of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee and head of the FSB, said that the number of terrorism-related crimes had halved this year, compared with the previous year.

He noted that processes in the Middle East, Afghan-Pakistani border and North Africa had impact on terrorism in Russia. The official clarified that about a thousand Russians were being trained by international terrorist organizations.

Bortnikov said that 18 terrorist organizations were shut down in the Moscow Region, Khabarovsk Territory, Bashkortostan, Tyva. 18 emissaries and members of secret international organizations of the Islamic Party of Turkestan and Hizb tu-Tahrir al-Islami were neutralized.
