Iran urges UN to resolve visa problem for its representative

Iran has urged the UN to hold a special session over refusal of the US to grant Iranian Representative Hamid Abutaleb a visa, Interfax cites a letter of Iranian Deputy Representative to the UN Hossein Deghgani, Interfax reports.White House spokesman Jay Carney said in Washington that Abutalebi will not be allowed to enter the US. The US Congress banned Abutalebi from visiting the country.According to the US, the Iranian diplomat was responsible for taking hostages at the US embassy in Iran in 1979. Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministry Abbas Arakchi said that no new representative will be appointed.
