Usupashvili proposes fining chronically absent MPs
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe speaker of the Georgian Parliament, David Usupashvili, has proposed deducting some part of the salaries of MPs who miss sessions of parliament without providing any reasonable excuse.
"I’d like to ask the finance department of the Parliament, as well as the mandate and procedure committees, to deduct fines from the April salaries of MPs for days of absence at sessions without substantial reasons in March. It is necessary to figure out why they were absent and whether their excuses are reasonable,” Georgia Online quotes Usupashvili.
