An observer mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has arrived in the city of Slovyansk in the Donetsk region, where a curfew has been introduced.

On the site, the representatives of the monitoring mission, within their power, explore the circumstances of the shooting which began on the night from Saturday to Sunday at a checkpoint in Slovyansk. As the result of the attack by unknown people, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, three people were killed and three others injured, Trend reports with reference to Deutsche Welle.

At the time of the attack on the checkpoint there were unarmed locals who usually inspect cars at the entrance to the city and warn self-defense forces about the arrival of  army units. Several cars arrived at the checkpoint and people from them started shooting. According to media reports, self-defense units quickly arrived at the scene.
Militia leaders in Slovyansk met with representatives of the OSCE, RIA Novosti reports.

"They were interested in our requirements, inspected our buildings, checked the statements of Ukrainian television that we supposedly hold someone captive and torture them. Also, they wondered whether we have enough food, whether there is medical assistance," said one of the assistants of the self-defense leader Vyacheslav Ponomarev.
