Gholam-Hossein Esmaili, Head of the Iran’s Prisons Organization, has been dismissed for ordering guards to beat convicts at the Evin Prison in Tehran, RBC reports.

He has been appointed as a prosecutor and head of the court of appeal in Tehran.

Iranian opposition leaders say that 30 political prisoners of Evin were beaten with excessive violence. Esmaili denied all accusations. Some Iranian lawmakers requested the justice minister to investigate the case. Relatives of the prisoners organized protests at the Iranian president’s office on April 22. Some protesters were offered to enter and meet officials.
