The anniversary of the Beslan tragedy

The passing of time is inevitable and due to it we can view things
from a new perspective. Six years have passed since the tragedy in
Beslan, but we remember it and lament it bitterly. For the sixth time,
white balloons have been let off into the sky and mourners have
gathered at the memorial "Sorrow Tree".

September 3 brought the desired respite from the heat. It was raining
a bit, but nothing could prevent people from visiting school # 1 in
Beslan, the site of the horrific scene of 2004.. People arrived to pay
tribute to those who perished.

There is a silence in the school, a silence that is only rarely
disturbed by solitary moans or semi-whispers. Photographs of the
perished children and teachers are decorated with flowers and candles
are lit in front of them. After the minute of silence, 334 white
balloons are released and they seem to be the souls of the victims
heading to heaven.

Six years have passed. Time can heal, time can help us to survive, but
nothing will make us forget what happened.
