Armenia plans to cover 20% of electricity demand with hydro electric plants
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaBy 2020 Armenia will have covered 20% of its demand for electricity by
using minor hydro electric plants, the Deputy Minister of Energy and
Natural Resources of Armenia Areg Galstyan said, News Armenia reports.
Minor hydro electric plants in Armenia currently produce 5% of the
country's total energy, he said.
Galstyan noted that they achieved better results in hydro energy
compared with other energy spheres. They managed to double energy
production using minor hydro electric plants last year.
According to information in April, Armenia has 88 minor hydro electric
plants, with a total capacity of 108 megawatt sand producing 333
million kilowatts per hour annually. 67 more hydro plants are being
constructed with a total capacity of 155 megawatts and will produce
570 million kilowatts per hour annually.
