Sevastopol marks Victory Day

Sevastopol and Kerch are holding military parades to mark the 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 70th anniversary of Sevastopol's liberation.


Major-General Alexander Ostrikov, commander of the Coastal Forces of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, commanded the parade. Admiral Alexander Vitko, commander of the Black Sea Fleet, reviewed the parade. A company of drummers of the junior specialists' school of the Naval Forces Training Center formed from the diving school started the parade march.


They were followed by a battalion of the Pavel Nakhimov Black Sea Higher Naval School, officers of the Black Sea Fleet, battalions of anti-submarine brigades. Tigr armored vehicles, BTR-80 armored transportation, BM-21 valley fire systems, Rapira 100mm and Giatsit 152mm artillery, Podnos 82mm railguns, Igla and Osa missile systems, Bastion coastal missile systems, self-propelled communication machines and fire-fighting vehicles will be seen at the parade.


Veterans of the Great Patriotic War will march after the Sevastopol Garrison. Fireworks will start at 10.00PM.
