Ukraine to increase defense spending

The Ukrainian government is going to increase the country's defense spending because Ukraine's independence is threatened, Ukrainian Minister of Finance Oleksandr Shlapak is quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

 

According to the minister, in January 2014 defense spending was increased by 50 percent. In order to provide the necessary funds, the cabinet was forced to cut spending on public healthcare, social security and agriculture.
