Prominent Turkish expert in economics Aydin Sezer has talked to VK about the accident. The expert noted that, despite numerous statements made by the authorities that the disaster had occurred due to a short circuit, energy experts are more inclined to believe that a gas explosion at the mine was the reason behind the tragedy. Sezer also noted that there is no trustworthy information about the number of people who happened to be in the mine at the time of explosion. Official numbers have been falsified, he said.Sezer also expressed his discontent with the statements by Prime Minister Erdogan about the causes of the tragedy."Erdogan is trying to explain the tragedy by saying that miners are doomed because of the risk of their profession... I am sorry, but given the carelessness and such great violations in the mine, it would have been a surprise if no accident took place," he said.
