New SNF treaty meets interests of Russia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe new SNF agreement does not provide for continuous supervision over
production of Russian missiles in Votkinsk. This was announced by the
Kremlin press office, reports ITAR-TASS.
"According to the agreement the siting of strategic offensive arms
outwith national territories is prohibited. This, however, does not
effect the rights of the sides with regard to transit of submarines,
flights, entry of submarines to ports of a third state, as well as
procedures of interstate cooperation with third countries", pointed
out the press service.
"The question of restricting the American PRO system expansion is not
covered in the agreement. The Presidents of the USA and Russia agreed
that the problem of PRO is worth separate negotiations", the press
service spokesman stated.
"In general the new agreement is a fully valid, balanced document,
which meets the interests of Russia's national defense. It doesn't
give advantage to any side, that's why both countries benefit from
it", the press service emphasised.
